Arts and Crafts
Do you have a budding artist in your house looking for a place to express their creativity? This course explores the different media of artistic expression, and allows the children to create a different project each week. Watercolors, clay, charcoal drawing, craft making and even drama are just a few of the arts that will be explored in this introductory level course.

Baseball
In our Recreation Leagues we offer baseball and tee-ball for everyone from age 3 through grade 7. At the younger ages our coaches introduce children to the fundamentals of the game. In our leagues everyone plays.
For boys in grades 3-4 as well as grades 5-7 we offer Big League Baseball in the Summer session. In this league both coaches and players may pitch.
Minor League Baseball is a co-ed league during the Early Fall and Summer sessions for grades 1-2. It is a combination of coach pitch and tee-ball, depending on the ability of the child.
Little All-Stars offers Big Hitters Baseball for ages 3-6 during the Winter session. This class introduces children to the fundamentals of baseball. Hitting, throwing and catching are taught. Batting tees and whiffle balls are used.

Basketball
For ages 3 through grade 6 we offer basketball leagues year round; Early Fall, Late Fall, Winter, Spring and Summer. In our younger leagues our coaches concentrate on the fundamentals of the game such as shooting, passing, and dribbling. Teams in the younger leagues play zone defenses, and no full court pressing is allowed. All children play at least half of the game. In our older leagues increased attention is paid to developing offensive and defensive systems in addition to focusing on fundamentals.
In our Little All-Stars basketball classes during the Early Fall and Spring sessions, the basics of basketball are taught. Dribbling, passing and shooting are the primary areas of emphasis. Teamwork is also a large part of this class.

Bulls Camp
Every Chicago Bulls Summer Camp participant receives an Exclusive United Center Experience! Each camp participant, along with one guest, will be invited to the United Center (home of the Chicago Bulls) for a Q&A session with a Bulls personality and a current or former Bulls player! During the camp each player will compete in the Bulls Skills Competition. At the end of the summer, the top three contestants will compete in the finals on the floor of the United Center (date TBD). Each camper will receive a Chicago Bulls duffel bag, Bulls indoor/outdoor basketball, t-shirt, evaluation report, and graduation certificate. The camp is offered during the Summer session.

Cheerleading
Under the direction of our professional cheer instructors, classes are taught at age appropriate levels and feature everything from basic cheers and movements, to more advanced choreography, to basic stunts. All classes are given the opportunity to cheer during Nazarene Recreation leagues, and a special cheerleading performance is held during each award ceremony. Classes are one hour in length for eight weeks, except in the summer when classes are one hour for six weeks. Classes are offered during all sessions; Early Fall, Late Fall, Winter, Spring and Summer.
Uniforms not mandatory in the Summer. Each registration includes a NazCheer T-Shirt. For all other sessions, a separate uniform fee required.
Cheerleading Uniform Information
- Uniforms are required of all participants and can be ordered from the recreation office.
- Call ASAP after registration to order uniform!
- Cost: The cost for uniforms is $65.00 and includes shell and skirt.

Day Camps
Little All-Stars Day Camps feature a wide range of games, activities and stories . All of our favorite classes will be incorporated over the course of the week. Day Camps are offered during the Summer sesssion.

Dodge Ball
Dodgeball is one of our most popular leagues. Co-ed leagues are offered for grades 3-6 during the Early Fall, Late Fall, Winter and Spring sessions. International Dodgeball rules are followed. Players learn skills such as throwing, catching, running and planning team strategy.

Flag Football
In the Early Fall session each year we offer co-ed flag football for grades 1-7. We offer three leagues, one for grades 1-2, one for grades 3-4, and one for grades 5-7. Tackling, blitzing, and aggressive blocking are not permitted. All children are given the chance to play every position.

Floor Hockey
A new league for the Spring, 2012 session! Floor Hockey is offered on Saturdays to two age groups, 4/5 Year Olds and 1st/2nd Grade.

Football
Little All-Stars Football teaches the basics of the game with an emphasis on passing, catching and kicking. This introductory course is non-contact and skills oriented. It is offered during the Early Fall and Late Fall sessions.

Golf Camps
Golfers will learn and improve their skills in putting, chipping, pitching, irons, and woods. They will play a 9-hole round of golf with on-course instruction, which will cover the rules of golf, golf etiquette and course safety.
Fee includes all range balls and greens fees. Players will need to supply their own clubs. Golf Camps are offered during the Summer session.

Home School PE
Nazarene Recreation is pleased to offer a home school physical education class. The class is taught in 8-week sessions 4 times during the school year; Early Fall, Late Fall, Winter and Spring. The offerings during the class will change with each session. Some sessions will be Sport Samplers with the basic skills and techniques of different sports taught at age appropriate levels by the Nazarene Recreation staff. Other sessions will feature specific sports or general physical fitness. Classes last for an hour each week. Check with the recreation office for specific schedules and sports.

Once a year during the Late Fall session we offer co-ed kickball leagues for ages 3 through grade 2. This well known school yard game is baseball played with the feet.

Let's Get Moving
This Little All-Stars class is offered during the Early Fall, Late Fall, Spring and Winter sessions and includes exercise, activities and games. It is a great introduction to bring fitness into your child’s life. Hopscotch, cones, chicken dance, hokey-pokey, freeze tag and Mr. Wolf are just a few of the many activities we’ll be moving through each week. Increased motion and coordination are the goals. Classes are available for ages 3 - 6.

Little Chefs
One of our most popular programs, Little Chefs is offered during all five sessions; Early Fall, Late Fall, Winter, Spring and Summer. Children learn basic culinary arts, creating a new dish every week and then sampling their work.

Little Sluggers
During the Spring session, Little Sluggers is presented by Nazarene Recreation in conjunction with the Chicago White Sox Baseball Training Academy. The Chicago White Sox Training Academy staff will be coming to the First Church of the Nazarene for Spring Training! The program is for boys and girls in one of four age groups learning the fundamentals and developing skills of baseball throughout the 6 week program.
Each player will be placed on a team of up to 10 players. Weekly sessions will be 45 minutes of instruction, a 15-20 minute sports devotional time followed by a 30 minute non-competitive game with a Wiffle® ball.
We meet in the East Gym or on the fields if weather permits (bring appropriate clothes). The cost is $99 and includes a camp shirt and a sports Bible, plus other fun stuff. Sessions are limited to 40 players each so register early!

Lunch Pals
Lunch Pals is one of our most popular programs and is offered during the Early Fall, Late Fall, Winter and Spring sessions. Children join our teachers for lunch and then participate in planned sports, games and activities. Parents are responsible for providing meals. The Lunch Pals schedule is aligned with the Nazarene Preschool calendar. These classes fill quickly! Early registration is highly recommended.

Mommy and Me
This Little All-Stars class is offered during the Early Fall, Late Fall, Winter and Spring sessions. It is designed to seek out and discover your child’s areas of interest in art and music. Mom and child will participate with the instructor in a planned activity each week. Mommy and Me is for children from 18 months to 3 years old.

NazVolley
NazVolley - Competitive Clubs: Competitive volleyball clubs are offered during the Early Fall, Winter and Summer sessions for players 12 to 16. These leagues combine skill development and competitive game play.

Adult Co-Ed: Adult Volleyball is offered during the Early Fall and Winter sessions. You may register as a team or as an individual player. There is a limit of 8 teams and the league is for ages 18 and up. All games will be played in Wilton Hall. League play is a casual, backyard style format with no referees. No child care is provided.
Introductory Volleyball: For those interested in learning how to play the game, this seven-week course covers all the basic skills of the game. Taught by profession instructors, and featuring fast-paced skill instruction and simulated game play, this class is the best place to start for aspiring volleyball players and is open to students ages 8 to 13. Introductory Volleyball is offered during the Early Fall, Late Fall, Winter and Spring sessions.
Volleyball Summer Camps will feature a wide range of drills designed to develop the fundamental skills of volleyball. Emphasis will be placed on the skills of passing, serving, setting and digging, with an introduction to hitting and blocking. Requirements: Kneepads are required of all participants. Roller Hockey for Men - Open Gym
Men's Roller Hockey - Open Gym meets during the Winter session on three Friday nights; January 13, 20, and 23, 2012 from 8:00 to 10:00 p.m. Goalie pads are provided. Cost is $5 per person.

Soccer
Soccer Academy - Designed for intermediate and advanced level players ages 7 and up who have had previous soccer experience. The academy is offered during the Early Fall, Late Fall, Winter, Spring sessions. Focus will be on continued development of basic skills and the advanced development of team concepts and competition with an emphasis on sportsmanship and respect for the game.
Soccer and Indoor Soccer - Soccer at Naz Rec is one of our most popular options. We offer indoor and outdoor co-ed leagues for age 3 through grade 4, as well as separate leagues for boys and girls in grades 3-4. Our programs are an excellent place to develop soccer skills. Our volunteer coaches are given the opportunity twice a year to participate in clinics with high-level soccer coaches. A strong emphasis is placed on the fundamental skills of the game. Our leagues are played outdoors in the Early Fall and Summer and indoors during the Late Fall, Winter and Spring.
Little All-Stars - Little All-Stars Soccer for ages 3-6 teaches the basics during the Late Fall, Winter, Spring and Summer sessions. Dribbling, passing and shooting are the primary areas of emphasis. Teamwork is also a large part of this class.
Requirements:
• For indoor sessions court shoes are required.
• For outdoor sessions soccer shoes are required.

Soccer Camp
Soccer Camp will feature college coaches who will provide instruction tailored for all skill levels. Players will work in age and skill appropriate groups. All aspects of the game will be taught, from basic skills to advanced team concepts. Part of each day will be spent in small groups studying principles and concepts related to the theme for the week. Soccer Camp is offered during the Summer session.

Sports Combo
Sports Combo classes provide children the opportunity to explore two different sports in an 8-week recreation session. A number of difference combos will be available throughout the year. The specific combos can be found on the session schedules during Late Fall, Winter, and Spring. These classes are for ages 3-6.

Sports Sampler
The Sport Sampler class provides a range of exposure to different sports. Basic sport skills are taught to kids ages 3-6. Sport Sampler is offered during all five sessions; Early Fall, Late Fall, Winter, Spring and Summer.

Tee-Ball
We offer co-ed Tee-Ball leagues for two age groups, 3 year olds and 4-5 year olds. Tee-Ball is played outdoors during the Early Fall and Summer sessions and indoors during the Spring. Our coaches introduce children to the fundamentals of the game. In our leagues everyone plays.

Tumbling
Gymnastic tumbling skills are introduced to children. Various mats, beams and gymnastics equipment are used to emphasize coordination, strength and teamwork. Children will perform for parents at the final class. Tumbling is offered during the Early Fall, Late Fall, Winter and Spring sessions.

White Sox Camp
Every Chicago White Sox Summer Camp participant receives an exclusive US Cellular Field experience! This opportunity of a lifetime for each camp participant, along with one guest, will include a parade on the field and a Q&A session with a White Sox personality, coach, or current player! Also, during the camp each player will participate in a special Skills Competition. The top 30 qualifiers in each age throughout the summer will compete in the finals on US Cellular Field in September. Each camper also receives six (6) White Sox ticket vouchers*, Academy hat, t-shirt, evaluation report, and graduation certificate. Restrictions apply to ticket vouchers. The camp is offered during the Summer session.
