Chicago First Church of the Nazarene has become a two-campus, two-site church! After leaving the city over 30 years ago, Chicago First Nazarene once again has a ministry presence in the city of Chicago.

 In September, 2007, the church board extended a unanimous call to Rev. Ron Allen to be the site pastor for Chicago First Church of the Nazarene's Chicago campus in the Austin neighborhood. His wife of 20 years, Tonya, is a faithful servant in the ministry. They have two children at home, Aja and Joshua. Ron is a founding member of the Board of Elders of the New Life Celebration Church of God in Dolton. He is also presently the Senior Counselor for Trinity International University South Side extension campus in Dolton. Ron has served on staff at New Life Christian Fellowship in Joliet and Rock of Ages Baptist Church in Maywood. Previously Ron had a 25 year career with the U.S. Postal Service. Ron holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Christian Ministry from Trinity International University and will graduate with a Master's Degree in Religion/Urban Ministry in 2008.

By the Hand Club for Kids... |
By the Hand Club for Kids presently has after-school programs in the Cabrini-Green and Altgeld-Murray public housing projects in Chicago, in the Englewood neighborhood on the south side of Chicago, and also at our Chicago "Lighthouse" campus building in the Austin neighborhood. Currently there are 142 children in grades 1-7 from four community public schools located near our facility. These kids met the criteria for By the Hand and were recommended by their school principals. By the Hand Club for Kids offers chapel, homework help, reading enrichment, elective classes and a hot meal in their three days a week program. We are thrilled to have them partnering with us in reaching the Austin community for Christ. |
